Kindergarten learned all about apples with an apple taste test, apple stacking STEM challenge, apple investigations, and pretend play at the apple orchard!

Mark your calendars now! You are invited to attend the 2023 Greenwood Homecoming game on Friday, September 29th!

First Grade Helpful Hedgehogs are learning about plants in science. This week they made an apple book detailing the parts of an apple from the seed to the apple.
Students developed a hypothesis about how many seeds an apple would contain. Then students dissected the apple and explored. Students discovered that although the apples may look alike many contained a different amount of seeds inside. Students culminated the apple research by tasting and graphing which apples they liked best.

5th Grade Favorites!!

Third grade recently hosted a STARBOOKS Author Sampling. We sampled books from five different authors. We transformed our classroom into a “restaurant” type atmosphere as we “tasted” our books.

Dr. Robert Garner, Beau's dad, talked to the first grade class about being a pediatrician and staying healthy. Dr. Garner is a pediatrician at Mercy, and he answered questions and shared x-rays. One of the hobbies Beau and his dad do together is gardening. Dr. Garner and Beau helped the students each plant their own Cilantro seeds. Thank you Dr. Garner and Beau for a great learning experience.

Zoe’s parents brought her dirt bike, a KTM 50, for her student of the week sharing time. She has been riding for a few years and just recently got upgraded to this new bike.
This is Zoe’s first gas powered bike. Zoe and her parents answered questions about Zoe’s hobby. Students who wanted to were allowed to sit on Zoe’s dirt bike. Zoe is hoping to start racing this fall. Rev your Engines!
