Fifth grader, Channing Bland, won the Arbor Day poster contest this year! He was presented with many awards, certificates, and a tree was planted at Greenwood in his honor on May 12, 2023. Congratulations Channing!
Second Grade held their Pioneer Day on May 11th in the One Room Schoolhouse!
On May 12, 2005, the College of Education dedicated the “One Room Schoolhouse” that sits adjacent to Greenwood. On that day 18 years ago, to celebrate the legacy of learning that took place prior to the evolution of more highly diversified approaches over the past 100 years and to commemorate the Missouri State Centennial, the College of Education sponsored the construction of a 1905 era replica of the one room schoolhouse. This structure serves as a living museum which includes authentic furniture, fixtures, and artifacts typical in schools circa 1905. These period artifacts have been donated by Missouri State Alumni and friends who share in the nostalgia and sentimentality associated with their schooling throughout the Ozarks, rural Missouri, and beyond.
What a wonderful day of appreciating how education has changed in the last 100 years! One of the highlights was making butter and sampling it on biscuits. They loved experiencing learning the way it was so many years ago.

GLS Graduation starts at 5:00. Overflow parking can be found in the MSU Welcome Center lot if Lots 8 and 28 are full.
The Sophomores presented their Exhibitions today by dressing as the historical figure they have been researching all year and having a class party! Along with appearance, the students stayed in character, answering questions about "themselves" and mingling with teachers, other students, and each other. We saw the likes of Queen Elizabeth, Alexander the Great, Leonardo da Vinci, and many more. Great job everyone!
Today marked the last day of school for the Greenwood Class of '23! It was celebrated with a Memories Assembly and the Senior Run Through, as well as a signing for Senior Nick Burri, who will be attending William Jewell to continue his basketball career. Seniors, you will be missed in our halls, but we look forward to seeing everyone at Graduation on Sunday!
Trenton Zarechi is our next Senior Grad! Trenton is interested in Minnesota State Community and Technical College, where he looks forward to choosing his path of study. Thank you for being such a big part of our Bluejay Family!

Today marked the 97th Annual Honor Day at Greenwood Laboratory Schools! Students in grades 6-12 were recognized for their academic, athletic, and co-curricular awards. We would like to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to all of these students; you've earned it!

First Grade Students have been learning about Inspiring Americans in our community, city, state, and United States! Students selected a person they wanted to learn more about and research. After reading about the American, students practiced beginning research skills, delving deeper to discover adverse circumstances that led to becoming someone who could inspire others. They then created a paper bag book and wrote speeches to share about the Inspiring American during their presentation to friends and family. Awesome job First Grade!
Mrs. Fearing's 6th Grade Science Class learned about the power of chemical reactions by performing volcanic eruptions. The Bluejays "lava" science!!

The 7-12 grade choir earned two perfect scores and a Gold trophy! Wow! Congratulations to Mark Lawley, a tremendous director, and these wonderful students for showing off their hard work!
