Loren Broaddus, 2019 Greenwood graduate, is featured on the UMKC campus where he recently graduated with a Master's Degree in music. In this picture, Loren is performing in "Crescendo" at The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. You can hear him playing piano or French horn in various venues around Kansas City or listen to his albums on Spotify. We are so proud to call Loren Broaddus a graduate of Greenwood!

The GW Girls Golf Team opened up the 2025 season this afternoon with a match vs Central, Verona and New Covenant Academy at the Payne Stewart GC. The Bluejays were victorious over all three schools by carding a team score of 193. Dylan Lee (41), Ruby Brothers (50), Emma Daugherty (51), and Aya Stevenson’s (52) led the way. The girls will begin tournament play thus Thursday at the Seymour Invitational at Whispering Oaks GC in Marshfield!

Sam Schneider was recognized at the Springfield Rotary Club yesterday as an outstanding student, congratulations Sam!

Another day of summer science and fun!

Mrs. Fearing is offering a unique, field-trip-based experience that is providing hands-on learning and a lot of fun and adventures!

Greenwood Debate competed at the National Speech and Debate Association’s 100th anniversary tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. Over 1200 schools and 5700 students participated from across the United States and several other countries including Taiwan, Canada, and China. Mary Gabriel earned recognition as the 30th place overall speaker in Policy Debate. Tristan Khoshyomn was named as a top 100 speaker in Policy Debate. Tristan, Ethan Duff, and Gyan Grewal also advanced to elimination rounds in Extemporaneous Debate. Additionally, these three students were named NSDA Academic All-Americans. The Academic All-American award celebrates the academic excellence and competitive success of students. Fewer than 2% of NSDA students earn this designation each year. Tristan also participated in a highly selective application process and was announced as one of 27 student members of the NSDA’s national student leadership council for the 2025-2026 school year. During the week-long competition, the team also found the time to celebrate the NSDA’s 100th birthday at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines and conquered an escape room. We appreciate the support of the Greenwood Booster Club, parents, and Malkus Law Firm who made this trip and its success possible. Go Jays!

The First Grade Helpful Hedgehogs became familiar with the first grade experience through activities that promoted the development of literacy, math, art, music, art, social, fine motor skills and STEAM. Classroom and school routines were introduced to help students make a smooth transition to first grade in the fall. Students reviewed foundational skills, created birds, experimented with salt painting, made a collage of pictures, learned to draw a hedgehog, and made a simple machine. These first graders are ready to fly into first grade!

Many Greenwood families last semester generously donated books for the Kenya Literacy/Book Project, and now we need your help to get them there.
