Greenwood Laboratory School

Greenwood Debate traveled to Kansas last weekend to compete with 28 other schools in the Washburn Rural High School Invitational Forensics Tournament.
We got some first places from our blue jays, and every Greenwood student that attended appeared in a final round. Greenwood won 1ST PLACE in Sweepstakes as the TOP OVERALL SCHOOL in the tournament!!!

The girls swim team was back in the water on Friday and Saturday competing at the SWMO district championship meet at Foster Natatorium. Great swims by everyone and here are the results!!

First Grade Helpful Hedgehog Aksel Bell-Manthe is the student of the week! Aksel's mom, Dr. Megan Manthe is an Orthopedic Surgeon at Mercy Clinic who specializes in adult reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee. Students learned how bones are repaired when someone has an issue, then played a game to win treats.

Girls and Boys Basketball Tonight at Crane!

The Greenwood boys finished an outstanding tournament run with a 58–45 championship victory over New Heights Christian Academy to claim the Warrior Classic!

Congratulations to our players and coaches on a well-earned championship!

What a finish for Greenwood Girls Basketball! The Lady Jays soared to victory with a 53–32 win over New Heights Christian, bringing home the tournament championship in dominant fashion!

BioMed today got to do some stitch-work on bananas and oranges in order to improve their suturing skills. The skin of bananas and oranges mimic human tissue, providing a safe and simple practice environment!

I am pleased to report that our team (with members Dylan, Nina, Kaya, Nolan) got first place at the mathcounts Ozark Chapter competition on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Drury University!
There were 94 students from 15 schools took the competition, including Central High, Nixa Junior High, Ozark Junior High, Cherokee, Pleasant View, Greenwood, and others.

Also, Dylan got the first place in individual competition and the first place in the count down round, and Nina got the fourth place in individual competition! Our team members will be advanced to the state level competition, and the state coordinator will notify us with the time and location. The team members will work hard to prepare the state level competition!

The parents would like to thank Greenwood for all the support. We thank Mr. Anderson and Ms. Burch for teaching them so well, and thank Mr. Anderson for allowing us to use his classroom.

Snowy science fun in third grade! Last week, third graders learned how snowflakes are formed, then made the most delicious snow ice cream!

What a nice Surprise! First Grade Helpful Hedgehogs were presented with an early Valentine’s Day surprise. Zoey’s mom has a friend, Brooke, who creates brushed banners and she made our class a very cute treat!

Kace was the Hedgehog of the Week last week! He brought his dad, Andy and his grandad, Dwayne Fulk, to talk to the class. Kace’s dad shared “All About Kace” and we learned some fun facts! Great presentation!

Our Greenwood FBLA students had an outstanding showing at today’s district competition, bringing home an impressive number of medals after much dedicated preparation. Greenwood was incredibly well represented, and we are proud of the professionalism, confidence, and hard work our students displayed throughout the event.

Held right here on the university campus, students competed in familiar surroundings as they demonstrated their business skills and leadership. Many Greenwood students also qualified to advance to the state FBLA competition—congratulations!
