
Fourth Grade took a field trip to the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City!


Maria’s mom, Sara, read First Graders the book "Ilyas & Duck and the Fantastic Festival of Eid-al-Fitr" and answered student’s questions about Eid-al-Fitr! Students learned that giving Zakat is when money is given to help those less fortunate and in need. Sara shared about having compassion for others, for family, and the importance of friendship. Dr. Matt McKay (Lucy’s dad and a geology professor at MSU) visited Kindergarten last week and taught students about rocks, minerals, fossils, and DINOSAURS. Thank you Dr. McKay for your lesson, it was a ROARing success!

Physics I has been working on their Rube Goldberg Projects for the past few weeks, and yesterday they presented them to the 4th Grade Science class! These models were built to demonstrate how energy is transferred, while displaying each group's creative twist. Amazing job Bluejay Scientists!

This Friday at 5:00 PM is Elementary Night at the Home Baseball Game! As the Bluejays take on the Spokane Owls, students can enjoy a free hamburger or hotdog. Come show your Bluejay pride and cheer on Greenwood Baseball!

Today in 1st grade, James Owens’ dad, Ryan, talked to students about Fairtrade! Fairtrade is designed to help producers or farmers in developing countries achieve sustainable and equitable trade relationships for the sale of their products. Students were given samples of chocolate that was produced from cocoa grown on a Fairtrade farm. Thank you Ryan!

The Greenwood band program was well represented last Saturday at the MSHSAA District Music Festival at Glendale High School. Our soloists did an outstanding job on their pieces, earning high ratings. Freshman Elif Benzer qualified for State Music Festival of her clarinet solo, to be held on Friday, April 28 at University of Missouri-Columbia! We are so proud of the hard work and dedication of these musicians!
