Congratulations to our LAD Fair Winners! The mission of LAD, or Language Arts Department of Southwest Missouri, is to improve the teaching of language arts, to develop appreciation in education and lay circles for the teaching of language arts, and to stimulate growth and professional development in the field of language arts teaching throughout Southwest Missouri. Students could be entered into many different categories of writing, where their works were then voted on by a panel of judges. Great job to all of our Bluejays!

First Grade Students created colorful 3D prints using sand and glue. Students learned about “additive manufacturing” as they built parts by adding new material, one layer at a time. The process is similar to binder jetting, creating a solid three-dimensional part made from sand and glue.

Dr. McClure, Banyan’s mom, came to talk to first grade students for Banyan’s Student of the Week presentation. Students had a special surprise visitor, a 5 day old newborn baby goat. Students learned how a veterinarian takes care of animals.

Kindergarten and first grade students had a "wild" time on their field trip to the Stephen Fite concert at the Gillioz Theatre! They learned about animals of the jungle and rainforest, while integrating music, movement, math, science, and literacy.

GLS Science Instructor Presents at the National Science Teacher Association Annual Conference

The high school boys played their first tennis match of the season on Monday. Greenwood 2, Mount Vernon 7. Although the score doesn't reflect the close individual matches, we're proud of you all. We (Coaches Madi and Alex) love seeing you all enjoy the greatest sport. Your camaraderie, sportsmanship, integrity, and grit are admirable. Kindergarten Pet Detectives! Fourth grade students helped their kindergarten reading buddies do research for the non-fiction books they are writing about pets.

Our own Emma Daugherty, 8th grader, has won the annual Sons of the American Revolution brochure contest. She received 1st place at the regional level and 2nd place at the state level for her brochure about the impact and significance of the United States Constitution. For these accomplishments, Emma was also given a cash award! Way to go Emma!

We already knew we were awesome, but now we have a ranking to prove it! Greenwood was named as one of the best private schools in Missouri in a recent article by the Kansas City Star. Schools were scored based on academics and grades, but other factors included culture and diversity, health and safety, clubs and activities, resources, and surveys of parents, teachers and students. Congratulations to Turner Crockett for being the first Greenwood archer to compete in the State Tournament which was held last week in Branson! Score: 266 Tens: 7 Middle School Boys Rank: 173 7th Grade Boys Rank: 56 Overall Boys Rank 578 Great job Turner!! 761 Elementary Girls and Boys 1483 Middle School Girls and Boys 1327 High School Girls and Boys 239 Schools participated. Hillsboro won both the High School (3454 - 288 AVG) and Middle School (3362 - 280 AVG) Divisions (12 archers score for a team). We will have practice Tuesday mornings from 7:30-8:00 AM on "The Daily Court" the remainder of this school year. "Stay tuned" for information regarding the 2023-2024 Greenwood Archery Season. The Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest celebrates handwriting and showcases student’s manuscript and cursive skills. Greenwood Laboratory School grade-level winners qualify to move on to state, then national levels, competing to be named one of nine Grand National Grade-Level Champions. Each national champion receives a cash prize and a special trophy! Marshfield Music Festival Congratulations to our many middle school band students who performed in solos and ensembles at the Marshfield Music Festival on Saturday, March 4. Greenwood performed 25 entries and earned twenty two I ratings and three II ratings! Well done musicians!
