One of the 4th grade book clubs just finished reading, “All Four Stars,” by Tara Dairman. The main character, Gladys, is a 6th grader who loves to cook. One of the recipes she makes is an Indian dessert called Gajar Ka Halwa (Carrot Pudding). The students in this book club were lucky enough to taste it thanks to the generosity of Sarah Hossain, Zuheir’s mom. We enjoyed tasting and talking about the book!

Festive Fourth Grade!

Thank you to Santa and the Grinch for coming to lunch yesterday!

Thank you to all our elves and Ms. Grace for organizing!

Stella Agnew is speechless at our Director's wardrobe choice! :)
Happy Holidays everyone!

Thank you to everyone that made the GLS project for the fairbanks a success!

First Grade students have been celebrating the winter holiday by learning about family traditions, how the holidays are celebrated around the world and in our classroom. Students have created snowmen, winter artwork, written poetry, crafted snowflakes, and decorated snowmen houses.
The foundation of the houses were constructed by Emily, Dara, and Erin. Thank you to the First-Grade parents for helping make the Snowmen Houses a success!

Hedgehog of the Week is Penelope!

The 3rd, 4th and 5th grades have represented Greenwood very well this past week.
Each grade went out in the community and shared our holiday concert Season of Love.
The residents were thrilled to see and hear us. In fact, they cheered, clapped, cried (a little) and never stopped smiling. We're very appreciative of the GPA providing our transportation for these special days. It is a wonderful experience and opportunity for the students and residents.

Congratulations Soccer Jays!

Our RoboJays had their very first year participating, and our students competed against 28 other teams, many of whom have several years of experience and began their work much earlier in the season. Despite this, our RoboJays earned 2nd place in the Robot Game missions and 2nd place overall at the qualifying tournament. These achievements reflect remarkable dedication and teamwork, especially for a first-year team that started later than most others. Good job everyone!!!

Thank you to the Raphaels! Millie brought her mom and dad, Shawna and Dr. Steven, and her older sister, Scarlet, to share about Hanukkah with the First Grade Class! The Raphaels brought in dreidels, gelts (chocolate coins), and Hanukkah themed donuts for the kids, and sang with the class.
Thank you for a wonderful presentation!

Dr. Mandy Benedict-Chambers Elementary Science Methods Accelerated Masters students and Dr. Melinda Hammerschmidt’s Greenwood First Grade Students collaborated for an end of the semester Science project. For their final semester project university students designed and taught lessons that aligned with the Missouri Learning Standards. Student groups focused on weather, weather patterns, and why the sun and moon rise and set. Students described weather patterns that can be predicted. They also looked at Springfield’s 2025 summer weather patterns and learned how to disseminate the data. Activities included watching videos, using a globe, art, and writing.
