Mike Hamra, Zack’s dad, visited first grade today to share about how businesses work. The Hamra Family own Wendy’s and Panera franchises in several states. Students asked great questions and were treated to Wendy’s French Toast Sticks, Potato Wedges, or Oat Bars! A Tasty Treat to begin our Friday.

First Grade Snowmen Houses First Grade Students learned about Snowflakes and how they form when water vapor travels through the air and then condenses on a particle. A slowly growing ice crystal turns into a beautiful snowflake! Each snowflake is unique however they are all symmetrical and have six-fold radial symmetry. The first grade unit of study has included writing creative snow stories, reading snow stories, making snowflakes, glister galore snowmen and creating snowmen houses. Thank you to our construction crew (the wonderful parents) who helped make the culminating activity possible.

Kindergartners are Thankful! Kindergarten students listened to the book “Balloons Over Broadway,” which is about the puppeteer who invented the balloons for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. They created their own “balloons” and had a Thanksgiving parade. Kindergarten students also celebrated with a “Charlie Brown” style Thanksgiving feast, complete with toast, popcorn, jellybeans, and pretzels. They learned that Thanksgiving isn’t just about turkey… it’s about being grateful, and spending time with family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!
