Congratulations to 8th graders on their 8th grade night!

Fourth graders experimented with different kinds of "lava" today! They made observations about the similarities and differences between the thin and thick mixtures.

First grade students used Skittles to make a Skittles rainbow science experiment to learn about dissolving, absorption, and how colors mix! Skittles contain dye and the combination of dye and sugar dissolves quickly in warm water. Skittles were good for this experiment because they are colorful and are fast dissolvers. When placed around the edge of the plate and warm is water added, the dye quickly dissolves and begins to absorb into the water, making a colorful rainbow. Students explored and discussed why the colors separated. How "sweet" is science??

MSU Bears Basketball came to read to our elementary students last week. We are so thankful to be on a college campus with great role models and mentors. Bear Up!

Mr. Broaddus' 7th grade classes took a walking tour of the MSU campus to view some of the historic Greenwood sites! Pictured is the steps of Hill Hall in 1943 and a recreation by present day students. Shown in the last photo is the site of the Bungalow that Greenwood held classes in on the corner of Kings Street and Madison. Greenwood's history is amazing!

Kindergarten has been getting creative in art class while learning about color and pattern!

This week, Ms. Grace's 4th grade art class has been learning about the different values that can be created using black and white paint. The 6th grade class has been working with analogous colors on the color wheel. Great job artists!

Second graders brought some furry friends to read with on Comfy Day! I wonder what their favorite book was?

Third graders did some compare and contrast writing this week with Oreo cookies and Ritz crackers! Using their five senses, students wrote paragraphs on the similarities and differences between the two foods.
