Mr. Pfeil's history classes had the opportunity to virtually attend some educational conferences! The 8th graders attended Educating for Active Citizenship in Divisive Times and 11th grade sat in on the plenary session for Designing Justice: Innovation and Collaboration for Social Change.

Mrs. Gilmore's Physics I class had a "sweet" lab today! The students used Skittles to simulate carbon-14 dating, or half-life in nuclear physics. Chalk markers were used on the lab stations to create tables and graphs while reducing paper use. Great job scientists!

Congratulations to Mollie Scher, Gabriel Parada, and Will Chenevert who were selected for the South Central All District Honor Choir! Their selection was based on a competitive audition where they were required to perform a prepared song, sight read, sing a scale, and identify key signatures. There were approximately 800 students from across South Central Missouri who auditioned for this honor! They will perform in the All District Choir concert on Saturday, November 5th at 4 PM at Evangel University Chapel. Will Chenevert ranked in the top 25 of auditionees and now has qualified to audition for the Missouri All State Choir! Great job students!

Fifth graders began an opinion writing unit using the OREO method (Opinions, Reasons, Examples, and restate Opinions). Their official opinion is that Mint Oreos are the best, second place was Lemon Oreos, and a three way tie for third: Neapolitan, Pumpkin Spice and Toffee! Who knew opinion writing could be so much fun!

Mrs. Flanders' 2nd grade was a little "corny" as they had a “sweet” review for their first math test!

2nd grader Cora Shaw was the author and illustrator of her very own book, The Book of Feelings! She shared her creation with Elementary Counselor Mrs. McCann and read aloud to the 1st graders. Great job Cora!

Dr. Hammerschmidt's 1st grade learned about chemical reactions by making their very own lava lamps!

Lunch, but make it robotic. Mr. Bond had fun trying out the new Starship Food Delivery on campus!

Mr. Dave Millsap, Greenwood alumni and grandfather of James, Ethan, and Andrew Owen, was the guest teacher for 5th grade Guidance! He shared all things Four Square with the students to teach them a fun and competitive new game.

The Art 1 and 2 classes went on a hunt throughout campus to see the Bear Statues! They will be designing a Bear to highlight Greenwood in the coming weeks.

Greenwood lost a great philanthropist, friend, and supporter this week. Our hearts are heavy to learn of the passing of Bobby Allison. We send our condolences to the families grieving his loss.
Greenwood has been blessed with support from Bobby Allison. He always asked what we needed and how he could “help the kids.” He was always looking to enrich the lives of all students and he cared about making every single aspect of life better.
Everything he took part in, he did in honor of his mother and her dedication to kids. His legacy, and hers, will live on in the Greenwood community for years to come and we are so grateful for the generosity, kindness, and love he bought to Greenwood to make it the best place for kids to learn and grow.
Thank you, Bobby. Thank you for believing in our mission and supporting our Greenwood families. You are missed.

It is with heavy hearts that we share this news. Jeanne Stinson, beloved former English teacher, passed away peacefully early this morning surrounded by her family. She is pictured with Charles Baird, her brother-in-law and long-time partner-in-crime in Greenwood’s English department. We will post additional information as it becomes available. Please keep her family in your thoughts today. She was one-of-a-kind.
The family is planning a funeral service for Jeanne on Saturday, September 17 at 3:30 pm. Please keep the family in your prayers and thoughts as they grieve the death of their beloved matriarch.

The Bluejay Bodega is a K-5 incentive program in Spanish class that immerses students in the language. Students in 6-8 grade “work” the bodega for civitas discendo hours. Muy bien Bluejays!

It was a successful and fun first week for the Greenwood Girls on the Run team!

The swim team got off to a GREAT start Saturday at the Zizzer Invitational. Ridgley Cannon medaled in the 400 free and just missed in the 100 fly. Jacob Putty medaled in the 100 breast. Nathan Wu won both of his events setting pool and meet records with his state qualifying 200 IM and 100 butterfly swims. Great job, swimming Jays!

Team building never tasted so good! Fifth graders accepted a challenge to build the tallest marshmallow tower while learning to work in teams.
