Wow! The 6th grade choir, under the direction of Mark Lawley, delivered a powerful performance this morning at University Heights.





Congratulations to Greenwood’s State Music Festival qualifiers! Our students traveled to University of Missouri – Columbia to perform their solos for a judge who gave them feedback and a rating and all three had fantastic outcomes! Freshman Elif Benzer earned a silver medal on her clarinet solo, sophomore Mary Gabriel earned a bronze medal on her vocal solo, and senior William Chenevert earned a gold medal on his vocal solo! We are so proud of Greenwood’s hard working and talented musicians!

Griffin Litherland is our next Senior Grad! Griffin will be attending Washington University in St. Louis, where he will be studying Biomedical Engineering. Thank you for being such a big part of our Bluejay Family!


The First Grade Helpful Hedgehogs became scientists and animal specialists when they created crystal hedgehogs during science! Students learned that crystals are a solid made up of small regular 3-D shapes with very ordered chemical bonds. Crystal shapes vary, but can be grouped into seven systems: cubic, tetragonal, hexagonal, rhombohedral, orthorhombic, monoclinic, and triclinic. Students discovered that the spines of a hedgehog are similar to growing a crystal. How interesting!

This Senior Grad Announcement is for Romi Kim! Romi has been with us for 3 years and will be returning to South Korea where she plans to begin her higher education career. Thank you for being such a big part of our Bluejay Family!


Our next Senior Grad Announcement is for Joseph Jackson! Joe will serving at the U.S. Naval Station in Great Lakes, Illinois. Thank you for being such a big part of our Bluejay Family!


As part of the language arts curriculum, Mrs. Flanders’ class presented 6 plays to students, parents, and friends. The plays were called: “The Three Silly Goats Gruff", "Queen Midas", "Stone Slop", "The Prince Frog", "The Pig Who Cried Wolf", and "Aladdin and the Magic Pickle Jar". The students did a marvelous job!






Braeden Hutson is our next Senior Grad! Braeden will be attending Missouri S&T, where he will be studying Nuclear Engineering. Thank you for being such a big part of our Bluejay Family!


Egg-citing things are happening in Kindergarten! Students have been learning about the life cycles of oviparous animals, and got to experience it first-hand as they watched baby chicks hatch!







In 2nd grade social studies, students are learning about different kinds of communities and important jobs within a community. They then created their very own city! Each student chose a job that is important to a city and created a company to represent that occupation. It was an incredible learning opportunity!

Today at Greenwood, current NHS members held an Induction Ceremony to introduce the next group of students into their chapter! NHS, or National Honor Society, is a group of students that exhibit the qualities of service, character, scholarship, and citizenship. We are very proud of all of these students, current and inducted, and continue to be fortunate to have such amazing people walking our halls!








The Greenwood Scholar Bowl Team competed at Diamond in the Class 3 Districts! They won 4 out of 5 matches, and finished in 2nd Place overall. Eleanor Hilotin was named All-District Team. Congratulations to these awesome students!


Congratulations to Griffin Litherland for being awarded Academic All-State at the MBCA Celebration Awards Banquet! It's great to see our students excelling in the classroom and on the court.


Danna Yang is a mathematician in Mrs. Martin’s class! She has completed all four math operations quizzes at the 1.5 second level, as well as completed all four levels within this school year. Congratulations to Danna!
